Milwaukee Electric Tool Company is planning to add 500 more jobs and build a four-story office building in an expansion of its Brookfield headquarters.
The power tool manufacturer is in talks with local and state officials on whether it can get assistance for the $33 million project. The city is working on $6 million in tax incremental financing help, and the company has applied for help from WEDC, according to a news release.
The company would also buy a 3.5 acre site across the street that would be used for “green space, parking and potential longer term expansion.”
Already, the company’s Brookfield campus has grown from more than 300 jobs in 2011 to nearly 800 today. Those 800 jobs would be retained under the plan, and 500 more jobs would be created over the next five years, most of them in engineering and marketing.
The company began in 1924 in Milwaukee but moved to Brookfield in 1965.
