Restaurant Hosts Fundraiser to Help Area Men and Women In Need

APPLETON, Wis. (Nov. 18, 2015) – For the third consecutive year, Cousins Subs(R) located at 706 W. Northland Ave. in Appleton, Wis. will host a Stuff the Stocking fundraiser from Nov. 27 to Dec. 24 to benefit the Fox Valley Warming Shelter (FVWS).

Those interested in supporting FVWS can stop into the restaurant to purchase a paper ornament for $1—one-hundred percent of proceeds will go to the shelter, which welcomes all homeless men and women into its facility. FVWS provides area men and women in need with life’s basic needs—shelter, food, clothing and safety—along with referrals to local resources to help them achieve self-sufficiency.

Through prior Stuff the Stocking fundraisers, the restaurant has donated more than $830 as well as a variety of needed supplies to the shelter.

“It’s important that we work together to help those in need throughout the Fox Valley community,” said Kim Seidler, owner of the Northland Avenue Cousins Subs. “As the weather continues to cool, it is especially important to provide support to local organizations such as the Fox Valley Warming Shelter, which provides area men and women with a warm place to go as well as the skills they need to get back on their feet.”

The restaurant will also host a donation night on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 4 – 8 p.m. with 10 percent of sales going to FVWS. In addition, supporters who bring in items off the shelter’s most-needed items list will receive a FREE 71Ž2-inch sub certificate good at their next visit.

“We’re ecstatic to have Cousins Subs behind us as hosts of the Stuff the Stocking fundraiser again this year,” said Scott Peeples, director of Fox Valley Warming Shelter. “The problem of homelessness in our community is worse than ever and we’re on the front lines in keeping people from sleeping in the streets on the coldest night of the year.”

The Cousins Subs on Northland Avenue first opened in May 1993 and transitioned ownership to Kim Seidler in January 2003. Under Seidler’s ownership, she continues to support FVWS through monthly donations of Cousins Subs famous Better Bread and signature chips.
