Appleton Housing Authority: Hires new property manager for Riverwalk Place apartment complex for seniors

APPLETON, WI – The Appleton Housing Authority (AHA) has hired Jennifer Gerken as its new Property Manager for its Riverwalk Place affordable living apartment complex for income-eligible seniors age 62 and older.

In her new role, Gerken will be responsible for the overall management of the apartment complex, including leasing, resident communications and coordination of maintenance and repair needs for the Appleton-based riverfront property.

Gerken brings more than 16 years of public housing management experience to the position. A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Gerken holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Social Work and earned her Social Work licensure in the State of Wisconsin in 2000. She received certifications in Section 8 Rent Calculation and Section 8 Eligibilty from Nan McKay & Associates, and earned her Public Housing Manager Certification from the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO).

The AHA is the largest provider of affordable housing options in the Appleton area, serving over 900 families per month. The agency has operated rental housing, homeownership and family self-sufficiency programs along with other key housing-related programs in the Appleton community for over 48 years.

The AHA’s non-profit NHI organization is committed to affordable housing in the Fox Cities, as well as its successful partnership with the Appleton Area School District (AASD), which annually brings students from Appleton East, North and West High Schools together to build a new, affordable home or duplex for area families in need of an affordable residence.
