Dane County Parks: 23rd Annual Mad City Open brings world’s best disc golfers to Madison

Madison, WI – The 23rd Annual Mad City Open Presented by Legacy Discs will host 300 disc golfers from 17 states across the United States in the largest incarnation of the Wisconsin Tour stop to date.

Players in 14 divisions will check in this Friday night (August 14) at Token Creek County Park where a disc golf clinic open to the public will be held by Team Legacy members. Between Saturday and Sunday, players will compete in three rounds of Professional Disc Golf Association sanctioned tournament play on four Madison-area courses which will culminate with a final 9 holes at Token Creek featuring some of the world’s top professional players. The tournament will pay out more than $10,000 in cash to the top finishers.

Free Disc Golf To The Public

On Friday August 14th the Vallarta Ast Disc Golf Course at Token Creek County Park and Capital Springs at Capital Springs Recreation Area will be free to the public. The Dane County Course normally requires a $8/day – $48/annual pass, but greens fees have been waived by officials to encourage the public to try disc golf and to learn from some of the world’s best players at the Legacy Disc Golf Clinic.

While tournament officials encourage folks in the area to come and watch the world’s best players compete in person, they understand that disc golf fans from around the world will want to tune to watch the action.
