Madison Central BID: Local music at Top of State: The Sharrows (Sep. 16) , Sacerdote (Sep. 23)

MADISON, Wis. — Catch great local music outdoors as part of the Top of State summer programming series. Both concerts are free and will be at 30 on the Square, 100 N. Carroll St. where State Street meets the Capitol Square. Information and updates are at top-of-state.com, or call (608) 512-1342. (Events may be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather.)

The Sharrows, Thurs. Sep. 16, 5:00-6:30pm. The Madison-based Sharrows brand of music, “farm rock,” references their musical mecca, the rural barn studio where they practice and record. Their grungy folk vibe is driven by a steady bass drum thump accompanied by heavily picked bass lines. Cello adds to their bluesy saunter.

Sacerdote, Thurs. Sep. 23, 5:00-6:30pm. Sacerdote’s mixture of alternative punk and rock & roll blend seamlessly together with Cuban and Brazilian influences to create a wonderfully “Madison” sound and vibe. Band members include Jacob Wolbert of The Handphibians and Ty Peterson of Son Contrabando.

The BID “Top of State” summer programming series feature an eclectic mix of music, arts and crafts, children’s activities, and pop-up or drop-in events, June through September, where State Street meets the Square, in Philosophers’ Grove (100 W. Mifflin St.) and 30 on the Square (100 N. Carroll St.). Find more information and a schedule at top-of-state.com or call (608) 512-1342. The Top of State summer programs are presented by Madison’s Central BID in partnership with the City of Madison, Madison Parks Foundation and Isthmus.
