Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) announced today a collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac that will take two kids on a music-filled, theatrical adventure.

A THELMA donor will provide $100 scholarships to two members of the Boys & Girls Club to participate in On Stage @ THELMA, a week-long arts day camp.

The day camp encourages fourth- through eighth-grade students to learn and perform an entire play in just one week. This year’s production, the musical “Walt Disney’s Robin Hood” by Bobby Hammack, offers kids the chance to learn songs and choreography in addition to their lines.

“We are thrilled to have donors who support arts education at THELMA giving our community this terrific opportunity to partner with the Boys & Girls Club,” said Kevin Miller, executive director of the art center.

The day camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 7. The performance, which is free to the public, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Friday.

“At the Boys & Girls Club, we are all about providing experiences and opportunities to our members,” said Dan Hebel, Chief Executive Officer for the Boys & Girls Club. “The generosity of these donors and initiative by THELMA in including Club youth is providing just that. Our participating members will receive an experience they will remember forever, and for that, we are very thankful.”

David Hein, assistant professor of music at Marian University, will direct the production. Hein has more than 25 years of experience directing and producing children’s theater, including productions such as “Alice in Wonderland” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

The children will also gain hands-on experience with set design by working with Amy Jarvis, a Fond du Lac artist who will serve as visual artist for the production.
