UW Health critical care transport services receive quality care and safety
accreditation
MADISON- UW Health Med Flight and the American Family Children’s Hospital Emergency Transport Ambulance (CHETA) have been awarded full accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems. The accreditation follows a two-day on-site review to insure that national standards for critical care transport are followed.
“The national standards focus on quality patient care and safety,” said Frank Erdman, UW Health critical care transport manager. “Med Flight offers highly-skilled teams of physicians and nurses. It is one of the few medical helicopter transport services in the U.S. that has a physician on every flight. CHETA has specially-trained teams of registered nurses and respiratory therapists to care for children and the littlest patients.”
Med Flight has two Airbus EC135 helicopters that are in service 24/7. They are operated by Air Methods Corporation of Englewood, Colorado. CHETA uses a specially-equipped ground ambulance in daily operations and is operated by Paratech Ambulance Service of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
