MEQUON STUDENT NAMED RISING STAR AT SUNSET PLAYHOUSE

Mequon resident Mari Duckler has been named a Rising Star for Musical MainStage, a professional concert series at Sunset Playhouse in Elm Grove.

The daughter of Cheryl and Eric Duckler, Mari is a junior at Homestead High School. She is an active member of First Stage Children’s Theatre and its Young Company, where her credits include Edwin Drood in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, Teen Fiona in SHREK THE MUSICAL, and Junie in JUNIE B. JONES & A LITTLE MONKEY BUSINESS. Mari has also been featured in ANNIE at the Fireside Theater. Recently, she won first place in the NATS High School Women Musical Theatre Competition, and will soon appear as The Mikado in her school’s production of THE MIKADO and in BIG FISH at First Stage.

Sunset Playhouse is in its 55th season as one of the area’s premiere community theaters, and is also home to three professional series, including Musical MainStage. Each of its themed concerts offers one promising high school student an opportunity to work alongside professional singers and musicians.

Mari will join Ryan Cappleman, Laura Monagle, Beth Mulkerron, and Jon Stewart in a show called Give My Regards to Broadway, a tribute to the music of New York’s Tin Pan Alley.

Performances are on Monday, January 26th and Tuesday, the 27th. For more information about the production or tickets, please email dslattery@sunsetplayhouse.com or call our box office at 262-782-4430 or visit sunsetplayhouse.com.
