Take the Pledge to conserve energy and save money in Wisconsin.

MADISON, WI (October 15, 2014) – Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, is celebrating October Energy Awareness Month. As fall turns to winter, Focus on Energy is encouraging Wisconsinites to take a closer look at energy use in their homes and businesses. Year-round, the program offers incentives to residential and business customers who make efficiency upgrades that aim to conserve energy and reduce utility bills.

During the month of October, Focus on Energy is encouraging Wisconsin residents to take the Energy Awareness Month Pledge to save energy. Click here to take the pledge and tell us what energy saving actions you will take to conserve energy, protect the environment, save money, and control Wisconsin’s growing demand for electricity and natural gas.

“Living an energy efficient lifestyle is important every day of the year, but it’s especially top of mind as we enter heating season and need to keep our lights on for longer periods of time,” said Tamara Sondgeroth, Director of Operations for Focus on Energy. “We hope our Energy Awareness Month Pledge reminds homeowners, renters, and businesses that even small changes make a big difference and that we have programs designed to meet their energy savings needs.”

From residential homes to the state’s large industrial facilities, more Wisconsin residents and businesses are recognizing the value of the program. So far this year, Focus on Energy has helped Wisconsin homeowners save over 239 million kWh and 3.4 million Therms*. Energy savings to date have been derived from:

Over 5 million energy efficient CFLs sold
Over 14,200 homes retrofitted with free energy savings products
Over 14,800 refrigerators and freezers recycled
Over 1,500 Focus on Energy certified new homes built
Over 20,000 energy efficient furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners installed

The program has also helped Wisconsin businesses save over 271 million kWh and 13.2 million Therms* by providing superior energy management consultation and incentivizing over $22 million in energy efficient equipment upgrades.
