Michael Best and Friedrich: Wisconsin Law Journal names Michael Best attorney Up & Coming Lawyer of 2014

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP Madison office associate Melissa M. Turczyn has been named an “Up & Coming Lawyer” of 2014 by the Wisconsin Law Journal. Each year the journal celebrates Wisconsin’s rising legal stars who have been practicing law for less than eight years but have already handled challenging legal issues, taken steps to improve the justice system, and have dedicated themselves to their communities. The honorees were chosen from industry-submitted nominations for their initiative in the legal field.

“Being recognized by the Wisconsin Law Journal and other professionals throughout the legal field for my work is truly an honor,” Turczyn said.

Turczyn is a member of the firm’s Transactional Group and is the Co-chair of Michael Best’s Venture Best Team. Her practice focuses on all aspects of corporate law, with an emphasis on venture capital.

Turczyn received her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Melissa Turczyn primarily represents early-stage and emerging growth companies in numerous industries, including IT, pharmaceutical, medical device, clean tech and mobile applications. Her experience includes assisting such companies in formation, capitalization and financing strategies, preparation of employment and consultant documentation, review of customer / vendor contracts, review of equity and material transfer agreements and assistance with the negotiation of term sheets, debt and venture financing documents. She also represents venture capital / angel funds and other investors in the venture space.
