Activate Healthcare Expanding to Wisconsin

Employer-sponsored onsite health care clinics provide convenient quality health care for employees and reduce health care costs for employers

Milwaukee, Wis., August 8, 2014 – Activate Healthcare, an experienced provider of on- and near-site health care clinics, today announced it is expanding its operations to Wisconsin. Currently with 20 clinics and 40-50 employer clients, Activate Healthcare helps employees to take charge of their health and employers to take charge of their health care costs. The leaders of the Activate Healthcare Wisconsin team are Greg Banaszynski, President, and Patricia Lenius, Vice President Business Development.

A healthy organization has a significant competitive advantage today by lowering many health care costs and maximizing employee productivity. Activate Healthcare helps organizations achieve these results by engaging employees and improving the delivery of proactive and preventive primary care. Activate Healthcare clinics provide convenient, high-quality care at or near the patient’s place of employment. Clinics can be operated for a single employer or several employers, depending upon the size of the workforce. Employers pay a monthly fee per employee; Activate Healthcare builds and operates the clinics. Clinics are open 40 or more hours per week and are staffed by a physician, nurse practitioner/coach and medical assistants.

Services offered include primary care, chronic disease prevention and management, health screenings, immunizations, physical therapy and lower-cost laboratory services and drugs. The clinic also provides medical referrals for procedures, specialists, diagnostic services and hospitals. The clinics are aligned with the company’s existing health insurance provider.

Reducing Health Care Costs

“Roughly 75% of health care costs are linked to chronic conditions and 75% of these conditions are preventable. On top of that, less than 50% of patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, are complying with physician recommendations. In addition, approximately 60% of employees do not have a regular primary care physician. This provides a huge opportunity for employers to reduce health care costs by providing easy access to primary care, early detection and management of high risk conditions, and tailoring health goals, action plans and incentives to each patient,” said Greg Banaszynski. “Onsite clinics keep patients healthier and guide their care more effectively than traditional health care clinics because physicians take the time to not only treat immediate symptoms, but work with the patient to prevent or actively manage their chronic conditions.”

Successful Health Care Model

Every Activate Healthcare employee participant receives a free comprehensive annual physical each year, followed by a plan to improve their health, ongoing monitoring and support, and incentives. More time is spent with providers, facilitating deeper personal connections and higher quality and consistency of care, with an emphasis on behavioral wellness and support. Employers receive comprehensive monthly reports on clinic performance.

“With 20 clinics currently in operation, our results are well documented. Employee participation rates are often above 90% and spouse participation averages more than 60%. Both rates are twice those of other clinic providers. The employers we work with typically see savings of 70% to 90% on generic drugs, lab costs that are 90% below most hospitals and urgent care centers, and cost savings up to 75% on medical referrals – with better patient outcomes. The bottom line for the typical employer is a return on investment of over 100%,” said Patricia Lenius.

“Employees are the most important asset a company has and a healthy organization can positively impact a company’s financial performance. Reduced absenteeism and lower workers’ compensation costs, along with improved productivity and employee retention are a competitive advantage in today’s marketplace. Through integrated wellness counseling and preventative primary care, healthy employees can lead more productive lives, both on and off the job,” said Lenius.

Greg Banaszynski has more than 35 years of non-profit and for-profit health care, health insurance and management experience.
