MILWAUKEE, August 7, 2014—A new management team joins Smart Choice MRI led by technology startup and digital health veteran Rick Anderson as CEO. Cara Miller is serving as chief financial officer; Jeff Caprini as vice president, business development; and John Mathias as director of marketing. Poised for growth, the first MRI provider in the country to offer high quality, flat-rate MRI services with clinics in Milwaukee, Sheboygan and Richfield is expected to open a fourth clinic in November 2014 and four additional locations in select Midwest markets in 2015.

Smart Choice MRI has experienced double-digit growth within the last two years fueled by patient, physician, payer and employer response to its industry-leading MRI price of $600, a fee which has remained unchanged for the last seven years despite rising healthcare costs.
Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI, Rick Anderson served as senior vice president of Sharecare, the health and wellness engagement platform, co-founded by Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Since the site’s founding in 2009, Anderson has led the company’s hospital markets and provider solutions team. Prior to that, Anderson worked with Sharecare Chairman Jeff Arnold in several key healthcare business endeavors, serving as a startup team member for companies such as WebMD, QDS and Endeavor Technologies. Anderson is also the cofounder of several healthcare startups including Alithias, a healthcare transparency tool, also based in Milwaukee.
Cara Miller, Smart Choice MRI chief financial officer, has more than 30 years of business and financial experience advising entrepreneurial privately held companies. Most recently, she was chief financial officer for Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, the high-growth national coffee roaster and retailer. Before that, Miller was an equity partner at a Chicago CPA firm. Jeff Caprini, vice president, business development, is a 20-year veteran in medical marketplace development and management. He most recently served as a regional sales manager for Secaucus, NJ-based St. Jude’s Medical Cardiac Rhythm Management division. He also held sales executive positions at QDS and Endeavor Technologies. John Mathias, director of marketing, brings more than 14 years of experience working with such companies as Clear Channel Worldwide, Journal Communications and Direct Supply Inc.
Smart Choice launched a new TV and radio ad campaign this week featuring former Green Bay Packer Pro Bowl offensive tackle Mark Tauscher, who grew up in Wisconsin and played with the University of Wisconsin Badgers before his 11 years with the Packers. Tauscher now assists with TV and radio broadcasts of the games and heads up the TRIFECTA Foundation, a charity that helps Wisconsin kids learn to read.
