(Appleton, WI) The Community Blood Center broke ground on a new 8,400 sq. ft. multi-purpose garage that will accommodate the Center’s fleet of mobile donor vehicles. The building, which is expected to be completed by early fall 2014, will be located on the Community Blood Center campus in Appleton.

Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc., partnered with the Community Blood Center on the renovation and expansion of their main facility in 2009, will oversee this project as well. “We are very pleased to be a part of the Community Blood Center’s ongoing growth,” said Hoffman president and owner, Miles Girouard. “We have a great partnership and are looking forward to assisting the Center in meeting its immediate and long-term goals.”

The fleet garage, which includes vehicle wash bays, office space, loading dock, and a mobile prep area, will provide climate control storage for medical supplies and have capacity for six buses and five vans. “Donors have found our mobile sites extremely convenient and we anticipate those numbers growing,” said John Hagins, CEO for the Community Blood Center. “Our vehicles are currently housed off campus, and having them on site will not only provide us operational efficiencies, but be a responsible financial solution. In addition, the garage’s extra storage space will allow us flexibility with our main facility.”
