Thomas J. Phillips Appointed a Vice Chairman of ABA Tax Section S Corporations Committee

MILWAUKEE, WIS. (May 22, 2014) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Thomas J. Phillips, a partner in the firm’s Milwaukee office, has been appointed a vice chairman of the American Bar Association’s Tax Section S Corporations Committee.

Phillips focuses his practice in the area of taxation, providing tax analysis, advice and tax opinions to publicly held and closely held business entities. He has more than 39 years of experience in representing clients in structuring tax-free reorganizations and mergers, spinoffs, cross border transactions, taxable asset and stock purchase transactions, partnership transactions and private placement investments in limited partnerships and limited liability companies. He also has extensive experience in tax controversy matters, representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Wisconsin Department of Revenue and federal and state courts. In 2013, Phillips was inducted as a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation.

Phillips earned his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, his law degree from the University of Utah College of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota.
