Wisconsin Bankers Educate Young Consumers through Reading

April events promote financial literacy statewide

(Madison) April 11, 2014 is National Teach Children to Save Day, and Wisconsin bankers are joining in the effort to promote positive financial habits to consumers. To support the Teach Children to Save Day campaign, banks have sponsored financial literacy events throughout the month of April geared towards the state’s youth. The Wisconsin Bankers Association supports these efforts and provides tools for bankers to use during their events.

“Educating the next generation of homebuyers, business owners and community leaders about money is an important aspect of being a banker,” said Rose Oswald Poels, president/CEO of the Wisconsin Bankers Association. “It is important to recognize the efforts of bank staff to instruct these young consumers about the importance of financial literacy.”

One popular way volunteer bankers participate in Teach Children to Save Day is by conducting classroom presentations at local schools and libraries that teach kids the importance of good saving and spending habits.
