On February 13th, 2014 the UW-Parkside SBDC held its first Social Media for Business

workshop. 25 business owners and entrepreneurs from various industries in South Eastern

Wisconsin attended the event that focused on how they could better utilize their Social Media

platforms. The two hour workshop covered Facebook and Twitter in depth while touching

on other avenues such as, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and more. “Social Media is the first

thought for start-ups and business owners as a means of marketing. However, many businesses

lose momentum due to lack of time or new ideas. This class provided the attendees with

information on how to review analytics, free up time, and engage customers with new creative

content, among other topics.” Said instructor and UW-Parkside SBDC social media consultant

Jeremy Mishork. Social Media is an extremely large topic to cover but the class was successful

in that it gave a foundation of understanding and an overview of the potential it could provide

small business owners. Many students set up no-cost consulting sessions with the UW-Parkside

SBDC in order to go further in depth and to apply what they had learned in the class to their

own business with the one-on-one assistance of the instructor. The next class is set for April

24th

, 2014 at 6:30pm on the UW-Parkside Campus. Contact the SBDC office at 262-595-3362 or
