Dept. of Health Services: Announces new leadership team

MADISON – Newly appointed Health Services Secretary Dennis Smith today unveiled his new leadership team for the Department. Secretary Smith announced that Kitty Rhoades will serve as Deputy Secretary, Brett Davis will serve as Medicaid Director and Kevin Moore will serve as Executive Assistant for the Department.

“There is no question that these are challenging times, but we have assembled a great leadership team deeply committed to public service,” said Secretary Smith. “More than a million Wisconsin residents rely on the programs we administer and the taxpayers of the state rely on us to find the greatest value for their dollars. The states are the true engines of innovation and reform and those are two key goals of the Walker Administration.”

Kitty Rhoades served as a member of the State Assembly for the past 12 years, where she served as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Aging and Long Term Care and as a member and Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance.

Brett Davis served as a member of the State Assembly for the past 6 years. Prior to being elected to state office, Davis was a senior member of Secretary Tommy Thompson’s staff at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Kevin Moore served as Chief of Staff for Rep. Rhoades and was her lead budget advisor on the Joint Committee on Finance. Moore also served as Policy Director for Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch and was recently appointed Director of Policy for Governor-Elect Scott Walker’s transition office.

“Wisconsin will continue to be a national leader in health care reform under Governor Walker,” said Secretary Smith. As Secretary, I am pleased to have a team that is dedicated to this goal, to the integrity of the programs that we operate and to the people of Wisconsin.”
