NEW NORTH, December 9, 2010 – Green Bay-based Schneider National, Inc. and Manitowoc-based Holy Family Memorial were the recipients of the 2010 New North Workplace Excellence Awards, sponsored by Right Management, and Aurora HealthCare received the 2010 People, Possibilities and Progress Diversity Award, sponsored by Kimberly-Clark, at the 2010 New North Summit in Oshkosh.

The Workplace Excellence Award is presented annually by the New North’s Attract, Develop and Retain Diverse Talent Committee, and recognizes organization that demonstrate significant, measureable improvement in workplace policies or practices. The People, Possibilities and Progress Diversity Award recognizes and supports New North businesses and organization that embrace and celebrate diversity.

Holy Family Memorial, a comprehensive healthcare network in Manitowoc County, was recognized for its work to develop what it calls its “Ideal Culture,” which involves providing the highest quality service, promoting quality outcomes, and driving innovation. The company received input from all different levels of the organization on what the ideal culture should be, and moved forward on implementing a plan to increase observable behavior in its staff. As a result, the company saw an increase “excellent” care ratings from customers, a decrease turnover, and an improvement in employee personal accountability reviews.

Schneider National, a premier provider of truckload, logistics, and intermodal services, was recognized for the adjustment the company made to its business model to better empower its employees via a regional operating model to compliment its long-haul network. Schneider developed and communicated the vision for its new business model across multiple departments of the organization, and implemented the changes in a phased approach. As a result, the new model led to greater associate responsibility and accountability for bottom line business results in each of the company’s regional offices, and regional revenue per day and loads per day increased significantly.

Aurora HealthCare is a non-profit health care provider and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of care. The company was awarded the Diversity Award because of its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence across all three of its strategic goals: caregiver engagement, patient loyalty, and clinical quality outcomes and growth.

“Holy Family Memorial and Schneider National exemplify the vision of the Workplace Excellence Award through their respective efforts to improve their workplaces and provide better services to their customers,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc. “And Aurora HealthCare has demonstrated a clear commitment to diversity throughout their organization, and are very deserving of the People, Possibilities and Progress Diversity Award. Congratulations to all of the winners.”
