Project to create 5 positions

MADISON—Governor Jim Doyle today announced that United Wisconsin Grain Producers LLC (UWGP) will receive $300,000 in tax credits from the Economic Development Tax Credit Program from the Department of Commerce. The company plans to construct and equip an addition to its facility in Randolph, Columbia County.

“As the economy turns around, we must continue to work hard to support new economic development opportunities,” Governor Doyle said. “The success of United Wisconsin Grain Producers LLC is a real testament to Wisconsin’s dedication to quality, and I am really proud the state is a strong partner in the company’s efforts to expand its operations here in Wisconsin.”

UWGP was formed in 2001 and currently operates as an ethanol plant. Each year, it purchases approximately 18 million bushels of corn from area grain producers to produce 53 million gallons of ethanol, 1 million gallons of corn oil and 144,000 tons of distiller’s grain. UWGP will construct and equip an addition to its Randolph facility to accommodate a distiller’s grain refining process. With this expansion, the company will create five positions and retain 38 existing positions. Total project cost is $20.4 million.

This project builds on Governor Doyle’s efforts to position Wisconsin for future growth. Since taking office in 2003, Governor Doyle has worked aggressively to create and retain jobs in Wisconsin. Governor Doyle’s budget last year created some of the strongest economic development tools in the nation to help businesses create jobs and get people back to work. Wisconsin now has powerful new tax credits to help manufacturers create and retain jobs, new tools to help investors create start-ups, and new incentives to spur research and development.
