Madison Area Technical College can once again assign faculty to its spring course schedule after a Dane County Circuit Court judge today denied a request for an injunction and ended a temporary restraining order filed by the College’s Part-Time Teachers Union.

“We’re pleased the judge recognized the College as the decision-maker in assignment of classes to its faculty,” says Terry Webb, vice president for learner success. “Now students can register for courses with knowledge of the faculty assigned to teach the course.”

Madison College allows full-time faculty to teach added courses up to 40 percent of their regular teaching load. The remaining courses are then assigned to part- time faculty.

“Students need a variety of instructional experiences in their studies,” adds Webb. “This ruling reinforces the College’s right to schedule its faculty to reflect that educational goal.”
