A task force from the Wisconsin State Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Investigation Unit in partnership with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will inspect trucking firms that transport hazardous materials within the state from July 19 to August 8, 2010.

The task force will visit commercial motor vehicle companies in Wisconsin and conduct comprehensive compliance reviews of their drug and alcohol testing programs, drivers’ hours of service, drivers’ qualifications, and a host of other mandatory safety regulations for intrastate transportation of hazardous materials.

“The objective of compliance reviews is to have a company, which is ultimately responsible for its drivers and equipment, strictly adhere to all safety regulations before its vehicles hit the road,” says Bernard Coxhead, manager of the Wisconsin State Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Investigation Unit. “Previous task force compliance reviews have targeted school bus and dump truck safety. This year’s task force will send a clear message about our commitment to ensuring the safe transportation of hazardous materials within the state.”
