Madison, Wisconsin (May 27, 2010). Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that shareholder Thomas N. Shorter has been appointed Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Shorter’s one-year term will begin on June 26.

An active member of the American Health Lawyers Association for eight years, Shorter served as the practice group’s Vice Chair from 2007-2010. Appointed by the Association’s Board of Directors, Shorter will focus on developing educational materials and events for members about labor and employment law in the health care industry.

Shorter is a member of Godfrey & Kahn’s Labor & Employment and Health Care Practice Groups in the Madison office. He represents clients across the health care industry, including physicians’ groups and hospitals, research institutions and health care related organizations, as well as other businesses. Shorter provides counsel in health care, corporate, labor and employment and regulatory matters such as Medicare compliance, the Health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and many others. Shorter earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and a law degree from Northeastern University.
