MADISON – Governor Doyle on Monday signed into law the Wisconsin “Connecting Opportunity, Research, and Entrepreneurship” (C.O.R.E.) Jobs Act, a package of economic development measures designed to develop Wisconsin’s workforce and encourage job creation.

Phillip Prange, President and CEO of the Wisconsin Business Council, issued this statement on following the news:

“With the signing of this bill, Governor Doyle and the Wisconsin State Legislature have taken a step in the right direction in positioning our state for long-term growth.

“From improving access to venture capital and providing incentives for angel investors, to providing increased worker training opportunities, to making expansion easier for Wisconsin small businesses, the C.O.R.E. Jobs Act has the potential to create new jobs and improve our state’s existing workforce.

“We applaud the Governor, the bill’s authors – Senators Julie Lassa and Pat Kreitlow and Representative Louis Molepske, Jr. – and the legislature for working together in a bi-partisan effort to seize this opportunity to grow our state’s economy.”
