TREGO, Wis. Group XIV Fellows spent three days at The Heartwood Conference Center and Resort in Trego September 15-17, 2010. Led by Dan Hill, Local Government Specialist, UW Extension Local Government Center and Bill Rizzo, Community and Economic Development Educator, UW Extension – Dane County; this second seminar focused specifically on Leadership. Fellows explored and reflected upon: knowledge of self; personal values, personal leadership vision; the ethics of leadership; the external leadership context; and how, through their leadership, fellows can impact others and their communities. This seminar helped Fellows develop a personal holistic leadership philosophy based on personal reflection, leadership theory and concepts.

Leadership Wisconsin is the only statewide, leadership development program in Wisconsin. In 2003 it was recognized by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation as one of the exemplary leadership development programs in the nation. The program is a two-year intensive leadership training experience with the goal of developing leaders to strengthen communities. It is a unique opportunity for these fellows to develop high-level leadership skills, broaden their knowledge and perspectives on issues, travel to other parts of the state, US and the world to build their network with a diverse group of people, ideas and opinions, and put their leadership into action with hands on learning experiences – connecting expertise and practice.
