(MADISON, Wis.)—A study conducted by the Center for Climate Strategies showed that Wisconsin’s gross state product will increase by more than $1.4 billion as a result of the proposed Clean Energy Jobs Act, the coalition Clean, Responsible Energy for Wisconsin’s Economy (CREWE) announced today.

The Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization, along with researchers from Michigan State University and the University of Southern California, determined that the GSP will be boosted by $250 million in the first five years of the bill’s enactment, with the rest coming by 2025. The $1.41 billion translates to a net present value of $4.85 billion in constant 2000 dollars.

“It’s clear the state’s economy can benefit tremendously from the passing of the Clean Energy Jobs Act,” Thad Nation, executive director of CREWE, said. “Wisconsin’s lawmakers must work quickly to reach consensus on a bill so that this important opportunity is not lost.”

In addition to the increase in GSP, the study found that more than 16,000 jobs will be created through the bill (AB 649) by 2025. To view this report, please visit http://www.climatestrategies.us/ewebeditpro/items/O25F22680.pdf.
