Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau: 2000 to attend Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender Ally College Conference

Madison, WI – Up to 2,000 college students from across the nation will be welcomed to Madison Friday, February 19th through Sunday, February 21sth, 2010. The Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender Ally College Conference (MBLGTA) will be held at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. This will be the groups first meeting in Madison.

The message of the conference and mission statement of MBLGTA is “Get Real” – Confronting Privilege, Provoking Dialogues, and Building New Foundations. The conference will offer numerous workshops throughout the weekend ranging from: Out of the Closets and Into the Classrooms: Your Rights and Liberties, Queer People of Color Caucus, and Balancing Spirituality and Sexuality: Students Finding Peace.

Speakers slated for the conference are: Mia Mingus, organizer and Co-Executive Director of SPARK Reproductive Justice, Loren Cameron a transgender activist and artist, and Kate Bornstein a performance artist and author.

Madison’s progressive nature, diverse population and inclusive libertarian foundation are among its strongest characteristics in drawing leisure visitors as well as national conventions and events within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community. The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau worked closely with local MBLGTA coordinators Eric Trekell and Ryan Adserias to bring the conference to Madison.
