MMAC: Rail service gets a boost

Milwaukee rail service gets a boost MMAC has advocated on behalf of funding support for the Hiawatha line and efforts to upgrade its service. That’s why were pleased by the recent announcement that federal government will be giving Wisconsin $12 million to improve and enhance this Milwaukee to Chicago link.

The federal government has also awarded Wisconsin more than $800 million to develop a heavy rail link between Milwaukee and Madison. This new 85-mile route could be operational by 2013-14 with the potential for six trips per day. The long range goal is to link this new project with the Hiawatha line to help form the backbone of an eventual Midwest high speed rail link between Chicago and the Twin Cities.
