(New Berlin, January 25, 2010) — Local pest control expert Rob Van Willigen, a 23-year employee of Batzner Pest Management Co., New Berlin, has earned national recognition. Pest Control Technology (PCT), a national trade magazine based in Cleveland, OH, has named him “Commercial Service Technician of the Year 2009” and will feature him in the magazine. “He is highly regarded for his quality service and his commitment to company and co-workers,” said PCT.

“Rob excels at servicing and retaining existing accounts while at the same time growing his route,” said Jerry Batzner, company president. “Our customers are enthused about him as a person and as a pest control expert. Some people just do their jobs, and then there are those like Rob who are engaged and love the work they do. He interacts well with our customers, who appreciate his commitment and knowledge of pests and control procedures.”

According to Batzner, Van Willigen has been an exceptional technician and an integral member of the team over the years.. “He originally serviced residential customers but now services many hospitals, restaurants, hotels, and other commercial clients.”

Said Batzner, “Rob is a true professional. He has attended pest control seminars at Purdue University and has achieved many industry certifications and accreditations. He participates in monthly in-house training sessions, annual safety training programs, and other training seminars. He also acts as a mentor to our new service technicians.”

Van Willigen recently earned his Associate Certified Entomologist – ACE—designation, and is one of approximately 250 nationwide and one of only a handful in Wisconsin. In order to certify under the new ACE program, he had to provide proof of at least seven years of work experience in the industry, be licensed in pest control in at least one state, agree to a code of ethics, and pass a rigorous qualifying exam.
