UW-Whitewater: Venture capitalist to speak at UW-Whitewater commencement

WHITEWATER ­ Venture capitalist Roger H. Ganser will be the keynote commencement speaker at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, Dec. 19, as more than 600 students are awarded degrees.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in the DLK/David L. Kachel Fieldhouse.

Ganser, a 1967 graduate of UW-Whitewater, is the founder of Venture Investors, a firm that manages five early-stage venture capital funds totaling more than $200 million. The company has offices in Madison and Ann Arbor, Mich.

He served as managing director of Venture Investors from its founding in 1982 until 2008, when he began semi-retirement.

Ganser has served since 2007 as board chairman of NAIC-Better Investing Inc., the world’s largest investor education organization. He is also board chairman of the World Federation of Investors Corporation, an international organization representing investor education companies. He serves on the New York Stock Exchange Investor’s Advisory Committee.

He is vice chairman of the UW-Whitewater Foundation and has served on its board of directors since 2007. He chaired the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Letters and Sciences from 2004 to 2009.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in education from UW-Whitewater, Ganser received a master’s degree from the State University of New York-Albany.

Bachelor’s degrees will be awarded to 518 students from UW-Whitewater’s four colleges: Arts and Communication, Business and Economics, Education and Letters and Sciences. Master’s degrees will be awarded to 104 students.
