Dallas, TX – Honoring innovation, business intelligence and contributions to the long-term value of its brand around the world, Gold’s Gym named Eddie Dail the 2009 winner of its prestigious Visionary Award during the company’s annual franchise convention in mid-July in Las Vegas.

Throughout the past 12 months, Dail has been a partner in opening more Gold’s Gym locations in the United States than any of the brand’s other franchisees.

Dail and his business partners have successfully overcome harsh economic conditions to expand Gold’s Gym’s presence with a total of five new gym openings in Virginia and Wisconsin. He now owns and operates 12 gyms between the two states. Additionally, Dail has plans in place to open another 10 to 15 gyms within the next one to two years.

“I am thrilled to be recognized as one of the leading gym owners within the Gold’s Gym family,” said Dail, who opened his first Gold’s Gym 19 years ago. “There are so many strong Gold’s Gym owners and I am thankful to many of them for helping me grow my business over the years. Without the support of others, I could not be where I am today.”

Dail’s positive impact on Gold’s Gym goes beyond the gyms he opens. He serves on four Gold’s Gym Franchise Association committees and the D.C. Alliance, a group made up of Gold’s Gym owners in the Washington D.C. market which provides ongoing support to local gyms.

“Eddie has been selfless in so many ways during the past year,” said Joel Tallman, Senior Vice President of Franchising and Global Operations for Gold’s Gym International. “He is constantly working with other owners to help them grow and improve their businesses. Plus, his gyms are model facilities for our entire system.”

An entrepreneur for many years, Dail has developed an expertise in site selection, lease negotiation, design, gym pre-sales and equipping gyms. His business acumen has resulted in aggressive deal negotiating, which has led to the opening of new clubs at lower costs than previously possible during the preceding five years.

This know-how has also served others in the Gold’s Gym franchise system well during the past year. Dail helped negotiate three additional gym leases for his fellow Gold’s Gym owners.

Plus, along with the expansion of his Gold’s Gym properties, Dail has launched Taft Consulting with business partner Sandy Hall. Taft Consulting represents gym owners in lease negotiations, site selection, design and construction, and works in conjunction with award winning Taft Construction.

Eddie Dail Earns Top Honors from Peers at Annual Convention

During the Gold’s Gym convention, the Gold’s Gym Franchisee Association also honored Eddie Dail with their Bravo Award for making the most significant contribution to the Gold’s Gym brand and its franchisees during the year. The Bravo Award honors Dail for routinely advising franchisees on operations and club build-out to provide the ultimate fitness experience to each of their members.

Dail also serves his peers through his involvement with the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA). He has worked with IHRSA to push forward two pieces of fitness legislation on Capitol Hill. He has worked with Virginia Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner, and U.S. Congressman Eric Cantor to draft a pair of bills that will help reduce the obesity rate in the United States by increasing the percentage of the population that uses health clubs.
