Customers receive electric usage/cost data, energy efficiency tips and Cash-Back Reward information from Focus on Energy

MADISON, WI – To help residential customers understand their average daily electric usage and cost and learn how to become more energy efficient, Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, will begin sending the first of over 240,000 personal electric reports this week.

Using the chart that includes the average daily electric use and cost for 2008, broken down by month, customers can easily identify how much they are spending during the primary heating and cooling months. The remainder of the report features simple ways to use less energy, and tips on how to make homes more energy efficient.

“Many of our customers are interested in making changes that will lower their electric bills,” said Barbara Swan, President of WPL. “This report is important because we want our customers to know their options and make informed choices so they can better control the amount of energy they need to live comfortably and safely.”

For customers who want to upgrade to energy-efficient equipment and lighting, the report has information on Cash-Back Rewards from Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy initiative. In addition, there is a section which outlines the availability of tax credits for existing home energy efficiency improvements.

“We hope our customers use this tool to evaluate the energy efficiency of their homes,” Swan added. “To encourage them to keep energy efficiency top-of-mind all year long, we’ve also included a seasonal list of no-cost or low-cost energy-efficiency measures.”
