Madison, WI – Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing (DRL) Secretary Celia Jackson today announced the appointment of Hector Colon as her agency’s new Executive Assistant, effective February 23rd. Colon comes to DRL from the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) where he currently holds the post of Executive Assistant.

“Hector is known as a passionate individual with a track record of increasing job performance through dynamic leadership, change management and employee empowerment,” said Secretary Jackson. “He thrives on opportunities and challenges to motivate people and organizations toward positive outcomes.”

At DWD, Colon has been responsible for external relations, including communications, legislative, and congressional relations, as well as interactions with partner agencies and organizations. “These experiences will serve him well as DRL works towards increasing outreach to our licensees, regulatory boards, stakeholders and the citizens of Wisconsin who use our services,” said Secretary Jackson. “We at DRL are all excited with the opportunity to work with Hector. He will be a great addition to our team.”

Colon previously served as the Director of Economic Development for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority. He was also Legislative Fiscal Manager for the City of Milwaukee, an Associate Executive Director for the United Community Center and Assistant Director at Wisconsin Correctional Services.

He received both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree with honors at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He also received a certificate in Management and Leadership from Marquette University and a certificate in Commercial Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Colon replaces Larry Martin who served as Executive Assistant at DRL for 3 _ years before being appointed last week to be Governor Doyle’s Director of External Relations.
