UW-Rock County: Math refresher course eases college transition for returning adults

Janesville – Adults considering a college education who want to polish rusty math skills before taking a placement test can register for a non-credit basic math refresher course through the UW-Rock County Office of Continuing Education. The course meets on the campus at 2909 Kellogg Ave. at the following times: Tuesday, March 3, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Thursday, March 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 7, 9-11 a.m.; Tuesday, March 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Thursday, March 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; and Saturday, March 14, 9-11 a.m.

The course will be taught by UW-Rock County math instructor Carol Roy, who will cover fractions, decimals, percentages, integers, basic equations and basic geometry. The course is designed to ease math anxiety and help new or returning adults students feel more confident about taking the math placement test necessary to register for credit courses at the campus. Participants should meet in Room 29 in the lower level of Williams Hall.

The cost for the course is $79 and participants should sign up by February 27 by calling (608) 758-6565 ext. 360.
