Designed for contractors, seminars first offered in January

MADISON, WI – January 13, 2009 – Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, will sponsor utility safety and damage prevention seminars for contractors in conjunction with Diggers Hotline and the Wisconsin Damage Prevention Council. Builders, excavators, landscapers and others who work outside are encouraged to learn more about working safely near overhead and underground utility systems.

Representatives from Alliant Energy and Diggers Hotline will provide detailed information on:

* damage prevention;

* public safety;

* procedures and policies related to overhead work; and

* excavating near utility facilities
