Appleton, Wis. – The Better Business Bureau will host a free application workshop to assist businesses with competition in the 2009 Torch Awards for Business. The workshop will be held Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the BBB NE WI Regional Office.

The BBB’s Torch Award for Business Ethics and Integrity recognizes and rewards ethical Wisconsin companies and charities who can prove their commitment to honest and fair business practice.

Workshop attendees will benefit with insider tips and tricks on the application process. Knowledgeable BBB staff will detail how to apply and what the judges are looking for in an application. Past winning applications will be shared, and questions are encouraged. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required. For more information or to register, contact JoEllen Wollangk at (920) 734-4352.

Nominations are still being accepted for deserving companies. To suggest an applicant, visit http://www.wisconsin.bbb.org/torch. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on July 13, 2009.

Rewards for Torch Award finalists include free press and exposure as a trusted organization in the marketplace. Winners and finalists will be recognized in one of six categories through a free recognition campaign.

All participating companies must be in good standing with the BBB; however, BBB Accredited Business status is not a requirement for entry or consideration. Applications are judged by an independent panel of prestigious judges from the academic and business community.

Last year’s finalists received a crystal trophy, recognition at an awards ceremony attended by over 300 community leaders, a logo to use online or in print, a presence in a full-color, full-page ad in a leading statewide newspaper, plus other publicity in the business and community press.
