Corporate sponsor for Western Wisconsin’s annual fundraiser hopes to raise $8,000
for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

MADISON, Wis. — Summit Credit Union announced today that it has kicked off its seventh annual fundraising campaign to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for which it hopes to raise $8,000 by Sept. 20.

The campaign, which is part of Summit’s year-round Corporate Citizenship and Charitable Giving efforts, has raised more than $69,000 for JDRF since 2001.

The money supports JDRF in its efforts to find a cure for type-1 diabetes and its complications. “We decided to get involved with JDRF due to the widespread effects of juvenile diabetes, and due to JDRF’s strong reputation for philanthropy,” said Rebecca Gerothanas, Vice President-Marketing at Summit Credit Union. “Funding juvenile diabetes research is a perfect way to impact the health and vitality of our community.”

Employee volunteers from each of Summit’s 13 branches have organized the following fundraising efforts from which all proceeds will be donated to JDRF:

• JDRF paper “shoes” will be for sale at each of the Summit Credit Union branches (see below for locations) for between $1 and $20 donations.

• Walk to Cure Diabetes participation on Sat., Sept. 20 at the International Speedway in Oregon. Summit’s goal is to have 60 walkers, made up of employees, members and friends of both Summit Credit Union and Great Wisconsin Credit Union participate in the event. The Walk begins at 11:30 a.m. Interested participants should call
(608) 243-5000.

In addition, Summit and Great Wisconsin Credit Union employees will be organizing and supporting other internal efforts to raise money for JDRF, including an online auction, bake sales, candy sales, smoothie sales, etc.
