Schneider National Adds Three New Orientation Sites for Experienced Drivers

Drivers near Indianapolis, West Memphis and Atlanta now have a shorter distance to travel

in their quest for a better career

GREEN BAY, Wis.—June 19, 2008—Experienced truck drivers interested in joining Schneider National, Inc., a premier provider of transportation, logistics and intermodal services, now have several new places to turn as they begin their career with the nation’s largest truckload carrier. In June, Schneider began offering its award-winning orientation program at three new sites—the Schneider National Operating Centers in Indianapolis (7238 Western Select Drive), West Memphis, Ark. (800 N. Airport Road), and Atlanta (3300 International Park Drive). This move, combined with an addition of three sites at the beginning of the year, expands the network of Schneider’s nationwide orientation sites from six to 12.

As with every Schneider National orientation program site, the sessions held at the new locations are open to drivers who have gained professional truck driving experience either as an owner-operator or company driver. This is a paid orientation program, with lodging and meal expenses covered by Schneider; drivers who must travel more than 100 miles to an orientation site will be compensated for their transportation expenses. Orientations are offered on a weekly basis.

During the three-day orientation program, attendees receive an overview of pay, benefits and other Schneider offerings. They also learn operating tips to best utilize the driver’s time and to better serve Schneider customers. Because safety is one of Schneider’s core values, orientation leaders (who are former Schneider drivers themselves) focus on best practices for keeping the driver and the motoring public safe on the road.

“The opening of our new orientation sites is definitely a win/win situation for experienced drivers and for Schneider National,” said Rob Reich, Schneider National’s vice president driver recruiting. “Drivers get the advantage of joining a company that, even in this challenging economy, has the freight and miles drivers need at the pay rate they deserve. Now that we’re offering even more site options, we’re able to get our experienced new drivers in the door and then back out on the road much more quickly.”

“The advantage for Schneider,” Reich continues, “is that we continue building our team of great, experienced drivers near these communities—communities where we’re gaining new business every day. This new business is driving our ongoing commitment to grow our truckload service; orientation sites like the ones we’ve just opened in Indianapolis, West Memphis and Atlanta will help us meet the needs of our customers throughout North America.”

Other locations offering experienced driver orientation programs include Green Bay, Wis.; Dallas, Texas; Carlisle, Pa.; Charlotte, N.C.; Fontana, Calif.; and Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Sites added at the beginning of 2008 include Portland, Ore.; French Camp, Calif.; and Salt Lake City, Utah.
