Beloit College: German Consul General to Chicago to Visit Beloit College Friday, March 26

Beloit, Wis.—The Beloit College German Club will welcome the German Consul General to Chicago, Alexander Petri, to Beloit College for a special program on Friday, March 26, at 3 p.m., in the Richardson Auditorium, in Morse-Ingersoll Hall.

Consul General Petri will speak on “Current German Domestic and International Policies.” He will be introduced by Thomas Freeman, associate professor of modern languages and literatures at Beloit College. The program will be followed by a reception sponsored by the German Club.

Consul General Petri has studied at the University of Delhi in India and the University of Tubingen in Germany where he received his Ph.D. He joined the foreign office in 1971. He has served in consular posts in South Africa, Mexico and Sweden. He has also served in the German Foreign Office as the head of the unit for non-proliferation export controls. He was named consul general in Chicago in 2001.
