MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle today announced that Gordondale Farms, Nelsonville, Portage County, will receive a $150,000 loan from the Department of Commerce’s (Commerce) Milk Volume Production (MVP) Program to expand its dairy operation.

“My Grow Wisconsin plan calls for investing in Wisconsin’s dairy farms,” said Gov. Doyle. “I am pleased that Gordondale Farms will expand its operation and increase milk production in Wisconsin.”

Gordondale Farms is a fourth-generation dairy and livestock farm. The business is investing $218,000 to expand its dairy operation. The project will create four new positions and retain 15 positions. Gordondale Farms currently milks 800 cows and farms over 3,400 acres. The loan will allow the business to purchase 300 additional cows.

All Wisconsin dairy producers, both existing and start-up, are eligible to apply for the MVP Program. Awards are made on a competitive basis. Dairy producers interested in learning more about the MVP Program should contact Tim Griswold, Commerce, at 608/267-9661.
