RedPrairie: Sargento Aims to be Best at Customer Response Through New Distribution Solution from RedPrairie
Leading Wisconsin based Cheese Marketer Implementing RedPrairie's Supply Chain Execution Solution Integrated to SAP
Waukesha, WI - RedPrairie Corporation, a leader in global supply chain technology solutions, today announced that Sargento Foods, Inc., a leading national manufacturer, packager and marketer of cheese products, is implementing RedPrairie's DLx® Warehouse supply chain execution solution to improve operational efficiency and customer response. The system is being integrated with the Sargento SAP enterprise resource planning system to create seamless order fulfillment.
After a detailed vendor search, Sargento chose RedPrairie's DLx Warehouse system. "RedPrairie is very knowledgeable regarding the logistics function in the food industry," said Dennis Roehrborn, Sargento's Vice President Logistics. "They knew exactly what we needed and could provide it. The fact that they had quite a few customers in the food industry, including several on their customer advisory board, was also an important factor for us. We got excellent feedback from the reference checking we conducted."
"Their financial stability and pre-built adaptors to SAP were also key considerations," continued Roehrborn. "One of our project goals was to streamline the interface to SAP, while maintaining the proper level of control in the D.C."
Sargento plans to go live with DLx Warehouse in April, 2004 at their Plymouth, Wisconsin distribution facility. The implementation is proceeding smoothly. "The chemistry has been good from the beginning, and it keeps getting better," says Roehrborn.
As a supplier to Wal-Mart, another key consideration for Sargento was the ability to incorporate RFID compliance processing into their operations. RedPrairie's leadership role in this technology provided another advantage. The two companies are currently defining the appropriate RFID strategy for Sargento.
Comments John Jazwiec, RedPrairie Company Leader, "A lot of people don't realize the Wal-Mart mandate goes way beyond the top 100 suppliers slated for 2005 compliance. It will affect over 20,000 suppliers like Sargento by 2006. These companies have to start planning now how they will deal with the requirements. Sargento is being proactive in its approach to this issue, which will put them in good position to profit from this technology in the future."
