James Tarala to Focus on Firm’s Technology Strategy

APPLETON, WI – Schenck Business Solutions today announced that James S.
Tarala, CCA, MCP, has been named as the first Chief Information/Technology
Officer of the organization. Tarala, a shareholder of Schenck, will also
continue as chairperson of the firm’s internal technology committee.

“Jim has more than 15 years of technology-related consulting experience,
and has assisted numerous clients in proactively using technology to grow
their businesses and prepare for the future,” said Bill Goodman, Schenck
Business Solutions president. “I have asked Jim to help transform Schenck
into a firm which utilizes technology and business information efficiently
and strategically in order to help drive future growth and profitability.”

In this new role, Tarala will be responsible for all facets of technology
within the firm at both the operational and strategic levels. In the CIO
aspect of the role, these duties will include ensuring that technology
planning and resources directly support the firm’s overall strategic
business plan, working with unit managing partners to plan for technology
needs within their departments, and managing the firm’s internal IT
function. In addition, CTO components of his duties will involve working
with Schenck clients to ensure that Schenck, as a whole, has the proper
technologies in place to best serve their needs.

Tarala has been with Schenck since 2000, when Business Data Systems and
Schenck merged. In 1992, Tarala had co-founded BDS, an information
technology firm that offered its clients a sophisticated array of services
in accounting, distribution and manufacturing information systems. Tarala
is also an instructor for the Executive Education department at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business.
