MADISON, WIS. – The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the area’s destination marketing organization, has filled a key position in the Convention Sales department.

Nicole Slemin has been named the new Senior Convention Sales Manager. She joins a team responsible for securing new convention and meeting clientele that help contribute to the $2 billion impact that tourism and conventions bring to Madison.

“We are thrilled to have Nicole join the GMCVB team,” said Deb Archer, President and CEO of GMCVB and the Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC). “She brings valuable hospitality experience and will be an excellent representative for all Madison has to offer to convention and meeting groups.”

As Senior Convention Sales Manager, Slemin is responsible for promoting the greater Madison area and its facilities as a destination for conventions and events involving overnight accommodations. Her primary markets are medical/research, health and wellness, corporate, and geographic areas including Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. She works closely with the Alliant Energy Center and Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center to secure the appropriate space for her clients.

Slemin has been involved in the hospitality industry as a hotel and meeting professional for 13 years. Before joining the GMCVB team, she was the director of sales for Graduate Madison Hotel and served as silent auction chair for the Global Business Travel Association – Wisconsin Chapter. Additionally, she worked as a senior sales manager at Hyatt Regency Milwaukee covering large market corporate and business travel, and was director of sales and marketing for several branded and boutique hotels in Waukesha County. Prior to her hospitality sales career, Slemin was a police and courts reporter at newspapers in Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
