CAMPO, A FAIR TRADE START-UP, WILL BE LAUNCHING KICKSTARTER ON MAY 1

CAMPO: Creating a positive impact in the world one stitch at a time

MADISON, Wis. (April 30, 2018)  — Social entrepreneur and Badger Alumni Katie Lorenz will be launching CAMPO, a certified fair trade start-up that sells high quality badger gear made from Alpaca fiber in Peru on May 1, 2018. The Kickstarter will last until May 20. Lorenz currently works as a retail and consumer consultant for Accenture and graduated from UW-Madison’s School of Business in 2012.

CAMPO will be selling a variety of handmade products made from alpaca fiber, all of which are created by craftswomen in Lima and Arequipa, Peru. Alpaca fiber is considered one of the finest knitting materials because of its soft, durable, hypoallergenic and luxurious qualities. CAMPO will be selling sweaters, hats, scarfs, blankets and more.

Lorenz has worked closely with knitters and weavers in Peru to create sustainable supply chains that meet local needs. CAMPO is based on a business model that emphasizes the importance of constructing a positive social impact within each community through collaboration and social responsibility. As a UW-Madison Alumni, Lorenz has worked with designers to create collegiate and neutral apparel lines. The products strike a balance between badger pride and everyday wear.

CAMPO’s mission is to create high quality products, foster social impact through business, encourage global consciousness and develop partnerships with local organizations. Following the Wisconsin Idea, CAMPO will serve to solve problems and promote welfare within the supply chain.
