City of Oconomowoc: Household and agricultural hazardous waste special collection: Saturday, Sept. 9

(WAUKESHA, WI) The City of Oconomowoc will hold its special one-day collection of household and agricultural hazardous waste on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The collection will take place at the Oconomowoc Public Works building located at 630 South Worthington Street from 8 a.m. until noon and is open to residents of Waukesha County.

Accepted household hazardous waste includes old, unusable chemicals, pesticides, wood preservatives, solvents, oil-based paints, and mercury-containing products. Latex paint, non-hazardous cleaning materials, antifreeze, motor oil, and filters will not be accepted. Check with your municipal drop-off site for antifreeze, motor oil, and oil filter recycling.

Agricultural hazardous waste from active and inactive farms, greenhouses, and nurseries in Waukesha County includes old pesticides, herbicides, wood preservatives, and other hazardous chemicals. All agricultural hazardous waste requires pre-registration with Waukesha County since quantity of free disposal is dependent on the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection grant funding. Waukesha County’s four permanent household hazardous waste collection sites are located in Muskego, Waukesha, Menomonee Falls, and Franklin. Proof of residency and valid identification is required at all locations at all times.
