MADISON, WI (August 14, 2017) – Employees from Arlington recommended Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin to receive a $10,000 grant from the Monsanto Fund’s 2017 site grant initiative. Funds from the grant will be used for the Columbia County Mobile Pantry Program, which has two distribution sites in Portage (in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul) and Pardeeville (in partnership with St. Mary’s of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church).

“Second Harvest Foodbank is grateful for Monsanto’s support of the Mobile Program,” says Dan Stein, President/CEO for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. “Because residents of rural communities rely on the food they receive from the Mobile Pantry Program, gifts from supporters like Monsanto really have a positive impact in the community.”

Second Harvest Foodbank previously received a Monsanto Fund site grant in 2016 for the same program.

“The staff here at the Monsanto Arlington Research station is proud to continue supporting the Second Harvest Mobile Pantry Program with this Monsanto Fund grant. There has been a growing number of families in our community in need of healthy meals. These Mobile Pantries provide this in a convenient way for these families,” said Nick Deckard, Operations Lead.

This year, the Monsanto Fund awarded more than $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations through its site grant initiative to help address essential needs in rural communities. Nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $7.5 million through this program over the last five years.
