MADISON, Wis. – Berntsen International’s innovative InfraMarker solution to locate and manage underground infrastructure received top honors at the 2017 RFID Journal Awards.

In presenting the award, RFID Journal founder Mark Roberti cited InfraMarker’s capabilities to “dramatically reduce the time and cost of locating underground utility pipes.” Berntsen’s award for Best Use of RFID to Enhance a Product or Service requires nominees to demonstrate their success in using RFID to provide additional value to customers.

“We’re honored to receive this recognition for our company,” said Mike Klonsinski, executive vice president of Berntsen. “This is a powerful validation of our InfraMarker solution and our company’s vision to be a next-generation leader of connected marking products.”

The 2017 RFID Journal awards, which showcase the best RFID deployments, products and research, attracted some of the world’s most innovative companies and organizations including Honda, Delta Air Lines, Lululemon, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Berntsen received the award May 11 at the RFID Journal Live! Conference and Exhibition in Phoenix, Arizona.

Berntsen’s patented InfraMarker solution uses ultra-high frequency RFID, a mobile app and the cloud to precisely locate, monitor and manage underground infrastructure. InfraMarker’s digital platform relays data, photos, videos and other documentation in real time via the cloud to company enterprise systems. Benefits to owners and managers of underground assets are lower costs, improved safety and better management of assets in the field.

InfraMarker is the centerpiece of Berntsen’s new business line of connected marking products and solutions. The InfraMarker line enhances the company’s top quality survey and utility marker products by connecting those products to the Internet. This Internet of Things application turns Berntsen’s quality markers into smart markers that collect data, improve asset tracking and improve compliance objectives.
