Madison, Wisconsin – Today, the Department of Workforce Development will join partners from across the state, including the Wisconsin Technical College System (WCTS), for a two-day roundtable event focused on the implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The federal law seeks to more fully integrate states’ workforce and talent development systems to better serve employers and job seekers.

This two-day premier event will feature speeches from Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, along with speaker John Maketa, Vice President of Corporate Development for the Performance Assessment Network (PAN), who will present on demographics and how they affect the future in planning, collaborating, and providing services and programs. Approximately 450 individuals are registered for the event, which will be at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel.

DWD and WTCS leaders along with senior leaders of state and local workforce boards will lead breakout sessions covering the Wisconsin WIOA Collaboration and Partnerships Vision and how workforce partners will assure WIOA programs and services succeed in Wisconsin.

The conference will include discussion on the global and statewide future demographics, economics, and impacts to consider in relationship to WIOA services and programs. Other topics will feature an operational and policy focus and will build upon WIOA Roundtable 2016, new legislative updates and examples of performance measures.
