Bret Tangley recognized for lifetime dedication and service to water quality improvement

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (April 18, 2017) – Bret Tangley, Master Water Specialist and third-generation owner of Sterling Water Culligan, was recognized by the Water Quality Association (WQA) as one of its 2017 Hall of Fame honorees on Wednesday, March 29. A past president of the association, Tangley received his award, the highest honor bestowed upon any WQA member, at the Opening General Session of WQA’s annual convention and exposition in Orlando, Florida.

“It is such an honor to be chosen by the association for this prestigious award,” said Bret Tangley. “The WQA continues to improve education and awareness of the water quality industry, and I’m so grateful to be a part of their important work.”

Association President Don McGhee noted Tangley’s tireless commitment and steadfast leadership as distinguishing factors when choosing this year’s winners. According to McGhee, his work has set the stage for WQA’s next decade, which will further position the association as the voice for members, clients and consumers.

Numerous industry professionals and peers echoed these sentiments from McGhee and the WQA. They praised Tangley for improving the association’s educational offerings and applauded him for always working to help others achieve their best.

WQA Hall of Fame inductees are selected from candidates nominated by association members, and the award aims to recognize a lifetime of dedication and service to the water quality improvement industry.

“I would like to say a special thank you to my family for their unending support, and to my fellow colleagues for providing their mentoring and encouragement. They have influenced my desire to become more involved in this industry, which protects the world’s most precious resource,” said Tangley.

Working for Sterling Water Culligan since 1982, Tangley became President in 2005 after ownership was passed down from his parents, Peter and Karol Tangley. In addition to his work with the WQA, Tangley’s community and industry involvement includes the Eau Claire Area YMCA Board of Directors, Water Quality Association of Wisconsin, Minnesota Water Quality Association, Culligan Dealers Association of Wisconsin, Culligan Dealer Advisory Council and Culligan Marketing Sub-Committee.
