Marshfield – Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., has again been recognized as a Qualified Health Plan by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), able to offer health insurance coverage in 2017 through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace.

“The Federally Facilitated Marketplace helps individuals and families get high-quality health care by making affordable health insurance coverage within reach,” said Marty Anderson, chief marketing officer at Security Health Plan.

For 2017, Security Health Plan has expanded its Select product to seven additional counties – Adams, Forest, Iron, Juneau, Langlade, Taylor and Waupaca. Select offers a special set of high-quality physicians and hospitals at a lower monthly premium.

Security Health Plan also offers its Classic product in 26 counties across central and northern Wisconsin. With a larger choice of providers, Classic allows access to more than 5,000 doctors and health care specialists.

Only insurance companies approved as a Qualified Health Plan are eligible to offer coverage through the Marketplace. Purchasing a plan through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace is the only way consumers can receive tax credits and cost sharing reductions to lower their monthly health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

Beginning Nov. 1, consumers will be able to compare plan options, calculate what tax subsidy they might qualify for, and enroll in a plan at www.securityhealth.org/find-your-plan. The open enrollment period will last through Jan. 31, 2017. Most consumers who are re-enrolling for 2017 will not have to make any changes during open enrollment if they don’t want to change plans. Their enrollment and tax credit information will be automatically updated with no break in coverage.

The Federally Facilitated Marketplace was launched four years ago as part of the Affordable Care Act. According to statistics from the state Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, Security Health Plan has one of the highest enrollments in Wisconsin with more than 28,000 individual and family enrollments through the Marketplace.
