Criminal Justice program #3 in Wisconsin

JANESVILLE, WI — Blackhawk Technical College’s Criminal Justice program is the top ranked technical school program in Wisconsin and third overall among 29 Wisconsin schools surveyed by CorrectionalOfficer.org .

Blackhawk’s protective services division provides certification in Basic Corrections, full- and part-time studies in its Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Academy and a degree granting Criminal Justice program that help students qualify for certification with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

“BTC’s Criminal Justice program works hard to ensure that our students are well prepared for the variety of careers that exist in the criminal justice field,’’ said Gary Trulson, the dean of protective services at Blackhawk. “We work to make sure our students are capable of providing a positive impact on the communities they serve.

“The excellent ratings for our program are a direct result of our dedicated faculty and staff, and their focus on student success.’’

CorrectionalOfficer.org publishes in-depth information about the field of Corrections, including career resources sourced from experts in the field, and program rankings built from data collected from government agencies and national organizations supporting education.

With correctional departments and law enforcement agencies placing an increased focus on education and training, and increased public scrutiny of officers in the fields of public safety and law enforcement, CorrectionalOfficer.org seeks to help students find top programs that will support their career.

The ranking system included an analysis of 29 post-secondary institutions in Wisconsin offering programs in Criminal Justice or Corrections, and combines information from student data, published surveys and other data collected from government agencies including the National Center for Education Statistics and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System.

The two schools ranked ahead of Blackhawk are four-year schools – UW-Parkside and UW-Platteville.
